Convenience Stores Serve Up Coffee for the Holidays

NATIONAL REPORT — Convenience store operators want customers to ring in the new year with free coffee giveaways.  

In the Midwest, Des Moines-based Yesway is giving away free coffee all day on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day as part of the company's latest efforts to make its customers' lives easier and their day a little bit more pleasant, the company stated.

Moving east to Altoona, Pa., Sheetz Inc. is offering customers a free cup of freshly brewed Sheetz coffee from 4 p.m. on New Year's Eve to 4 p.m. on New Year's Day.

The offer is good at all of Sheetz' 541 locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.

"Offering free coffee during the holidays is our way of saying thank you to the communities we serve," said Ryan Sheetz, assistant vice president of brand strategies. "Sheetz has been giving away free coffee on Christmas Day and New Year's for more than 20 years. It is the perfect opportunity for us to show our appreciation to our loyal customers, and to celebrate the holidays with them."

Yesway also gave the gift of free coffee all day on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, while Sheetz offered free java from noon to midnight on Christmas Day.
