CHS Names New Insurance Risk Management Leader

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- CHS Inc., which markets and distributes the Cenex brand to retail fuel and convenience stores, named a new vice president of insurance risk management. Brad Wiggins, who has more than two decades of experience in risk management programs, assumed his new position effective Feb. 22.

In this role, he will be responsible for providing CHS and its business units with a full range of domestic and international insurance risk programs, ensuring the company has an insurance management system that effectively identifies and controls all major types of risk within the dynamic domestic and global business environment. This will include coverage assessment, insurance policy design, carrier and broker relations, loss control, claims administration, workers compensation and other related analysis, reporting and administrative functions, according to the company.

Wiggins, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing from Iowa State University, most recently served as casualty claim manager for Cargill Inc. He previously was a national account executive for Broadspire Services in Bloomington, Minn.; vice president of workforce strategies for Marsh USA, based in Minneapolis; and held several positions for Crawford & Co. in St. Paul, Minn.

He currently serves as treasurer for the Minnesota Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society and president of the Minnesota Self-Insurers Association.

"CHS is a very diverse business with energy, grain and food processing operations across the U.S., as well as a growing global grain marketing presence. We are fortunate to have an individual of Brad's caliber to provide leadership in this critical area," John Schmitz, CHS executive vice president and chief financial officer, said in a statement.
