CHS Launches Winter Gift Card Campaign

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- CHS Inc. launched a new Cenex Winter Gift Card Campaign just in time for retailers to capitalize on the expected increase in demand for gift cards that can be used to pay for household essentials. The winter campaign includes all new in-store merchandising, three fresh gift card designs and professional installation services for retailers, said Rick Cummings, vice president of CHS refined fuels marketing.

"We’re seeing signs that consumers will shift some of their holiday gift card spending toward necessities such as groceries and gas due to strains on the household budget," stated Cummings, citing the 2008 Holiday Gift Card survey released this fall by Archstone Consulting of Stamford, Conn. "We believe Cenex gift cards are a practical and thoughtful gift choice that will be greatly appreciated this season."

The winter campaign is designed to help Cenex-branded retailers increase traffic and build their business as easily as possible, according to Cummings. "For the first time, we’ve hired a professional installation service to visit each convenience store and set up their gift card display for free." Participating retailers will also receive promotional materials and advertising support from CHS.

The new winter-themed gift cards feature whimsical images inspired by c-store items, such as snowflakes made of tree-shaped air fresheners, hats of red licorice and snowmen made of crackers. "The new gift cards are also made of corn-based plastic, which supports our agricultural producers and helps protect the environment," Cummings said.

CHS Inc. is a diversified energy, grains and foods company that operates petroleum refineries/pipelines, and manufactures, markets and distributes Cenex brand refined fuels, lubricants, propane and renewable energy products.
