C-store Designer Joe Bona Co-Founds Foodservice Venture

FRANKLIN, Mass. — Joseph Bona, veteran store designer and consultant to the global retail industry, joined the newly formed MosleyBona Retail (MBR) as founding partner and president. MBR will specialize in integrating the science of retail with the art of design for the food and beverage and convenience retail industries, The Moseley Group announced.

Bona has extensive store design experience across all sectors of retail, including convenience, mass market, drug and luxury, and across six continents. He has directed a wide range of initiatives for companies such as Hess, Wawa, Duane Reade and more.

"We are pleased to have Joe Bona head up the newly formed MBR venture," stated Moseley Group President Tom Moseley. "With the growth of foodservice advancing at an extremely accelerated rate across a broad range of non-traditional food retail industries from wine bars in department stores, sushi in drug stores and elevated offers in convenience stores, Joe and the MBR team will be uniquely positioned to harness this momentum. Our more than 60 years' combined experience in foodservice consulting and retail design will allow us to serve a wide spectrum of retail industries to help operators improve their competitiveness and strengthen their brand performance."

Bona previously served as a founding partner and president of the retail design firm GroupRed Global, which merged with CBX in 2006. He also served as president of the branded environments practice. Prior to that, he was president and chief operating officer of CDI Group, an international retail design agency serving the petroleum, convenience store and supermarket industries.

A frequent speaker on the subject of retail trends at international industry forums hosted by NACS, Insight, the National Retail Federation and more, Bona was also a featured expert on the History Channel's episode of "Modern Marvels" that offered an overview of the convenience store phenomenon; it first aired in December 2011.

The Moseley Group serves as creative and logistical consultant to the food and beverage industry, helping to create and integrate enhanced foodservice programs and inviting dining environments into brand-name businesses and to help launch new ventures nationally and internationally.
