    7-Eleven of Oklahoma Eyes Made-to-Order With Kitchen Rollout

    Concept is product of years' planning, market research.

    OKLAHOMA CITY — 7-Eleven Stores in Oklahoma is planning to continue rolling out its kitchen concept at upcoming locations to bring made-to-order foodservice to its customers.

    "That's not how our kitchen is set up, but that's where we're headed," said Jim Brown, president and CEO of the company. "I don't think we're very far away from a made-to-order format."

    Brown told The Shelby that in a year's time, there will be a total of nine of the new models operating in central Oklahoma. "But we'll be starting on the others. … We've got a lot of inventory," he said.

    As CSNews Online previously reported, the Oklahoma City-based company debuted the first of these format stores last year. The concept offers breakfast items, as well as menu items like pizza and chicken bites, an expanded selection of coffee, Icy drinks and frozen yogurt.

    At the time of the store opening, the company said it planned to roll out as many as 15 of the expanded c-stores in the metropolitan market. Some of the new stores will replace existing locations and others will be an expansion for the brand.

    The new format stores are the product of a few years of planning and extensive market research, Brown explained. 

    Oklahoma City-based 7-Eleven Stores employs more than 1,200 people and operates more than 110 stores. It is not affiliated with Irving, Texas-based 7-Eleven Inc.
