7-Eleven Kicks Off Slurpee Season With #BYOCupDay

IRVING, Texas — 7-Eleven Inc. is kicking off the 2017 Slurpee season with its highly anticipated “Bring Your Own Cup” (BYOC) Day, now in its third year.

Between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, May 19 through Saturday, May 20, Slurpee loves can fill any-sized “cup” at participating locations for $1.50, or the average cost of a medium Slurpee.

Each person can bring in a single cup-like container, which must fit upright through an in-store display with a 10-inch diameter hole. Acceptable cups may not be more than nine inches wide and 11 inches tall, and must be leak-proof, safe and sanitary.

For customers who arrive without their own container, 7-Eleven is selling a “colossal” collectible cup. The refillable 50-ounce blender cup is available for $5.99. The new Ultimate Slurp Straw — which is twice as big as a regular straw — will also be available for 99 cents.

The latest limited-time frozen flavors include cinnamon-flavored Pepsi Fire, Lemonade made with real fruit juice, or sugar-free Slurpee Lite Watermelon Lime made with all natural flavors.

To encourage social media participation, 7-Eleven is using the hashtag #BYOCupDay so Slurpee fans can share photos of their “cups” on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Snapchat users can follow REALLYSLURPEE for updates on BYOC, and can add a splash of color to their snaps with a special BYOC Day geo-filter, available only at 7-Eleven stores May 19-20.

“Every year, BYOC gets bigger, and customers get more creative,” said Laura Gordon, 7‑Eleven vice president of marketing and brand innovation. “Year-round, people show their personality through their striped and swirled Slurpee selections. On BYOC Day, fans can customize their slurping experience even more by filling their own cup of their choice and sharing their crazy creations on social media.”

Outside of the United States, BYOC Day is celebrated at 7-Eleven stores in Australia, Canada, the Philippines and Malaysia.
