Kellogg Recalls Keebler, Special K Products
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- As a result of Peanut Corp. of America's expansion of its recall to all peanut ingredients produced in their Blakely, Ga., facility since Jan. 1, 2007, Kellogg Co. issued a voluntary nationwide recall for certain Keebler and Special K brand products.
Recalled are Keebler Soft Batch Homestyle Chocolate Chunk Cookies, and its Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, in 2.5-ounce sizes, with a "Best If Used Before" date prior to June 30, 2009, with UPC codes 3010032708 and 3010037899. Also recalled are Special K Protein Meal Bar Honey Almond variety, in six- and eight-count packages with a "Best If Used Before" date prior to Feb. 1, 2010, with the UPC codes 3800039778, 3800039935 and 3800039931.
No other Special K products are part of this recall. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection to the above products, the company stated.
Although these products do not contain any peanut ingredients from Peanut Corp. of America, they were produced at another company's facility on the same line as products that were made using potentially contaminated PCA ingredients.
Recalled earlier were Austin and Keebler Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers and certain snack-size packs of Famous Amos Peanut Butter Cookies and Keebler Soft Batch Homestyle Peanut Butter Cookies. That recall is now expanded to include all code dates.
Retailers previously were advised to remove all of these products from store shelves, regardless of code date, so the vast majority of recalled products are no longer in the marketplace. However, consumers having any of these products in their homes are urged to destroy them, the company said.
