Got Milk? Expands to Got Snacks?

Branded packaged snacks will hit major retailers in early 2015.

NEW YORK -- Got milk?, the iconic trademark of the California Milk Processor Board, is expanding its licensing program with the U.S. launch of branded packaged snacks.

These snacks, which will include cookies, biscuits, wafers, ready-to-eat cereals and cereal bars, will be manufactured by licensee Got Snacks?, as well as the addition of two new partners Melville Candy Co. and Diversified Flavor. As the exclusive licensing agency for got milk?, Beanstalk secured these food-based brand extensions with all three partners, according to the announcement made this week.

The product rollout will begin at major retailers across the United States in early 2015.

“We are delighted to partner with Melville Candy and Diversified Flavor as we continue to expand the iconic got milk? trademark through related food products,” said W. Stephen James, executive director of the California Milk Processor Board. “These two new licensees will join Got Snacks? as leading food and beverage companies committed to developing delicious and innovative products for consumers to enjoy with milk.”

Last year, got milk? and Got Snacks? partnered for the first time in September to do a soft launch of branded granola and granola bars with Sam’s Club locations in Puerto Rico.

This year, Melville Candy launched hot cocoa spoons at Walmart stores on Nov. 1. These wooden, chocolate-coated spoons make a rich, inviting cup of hot cocoa when combined with a mug of warmed milk, creating a more convenient and fun way to make hot cocoa, the announcement noted.

“Got Snacks?, Melville Candy Co. and Diversified Flavor are all experts in the food and beverage industries and are able to effectively bring to life got milk?’s mission of increasing fluid milk consumption in innovative and fun ways,” added Allison Ames, president of Beanstalk. “With the introduction of these new products, the got milk? brand continues to transcend beyond its wildly successful advertising campaign to more fully engage with families across the United States.”

Also launching in 2015 by Diversified Flavor will be got milk? drinking straws and milk infusers. The all-natural drinking straws contain edible, dissolving beads that transform milk into different flavors. Got milk?’s all-natural milk infusers, flavored powders, and flavor-enhancing drops and syrups blend with milk to instantly create a flavor-filled drinking experience for kids and adults.

Got milk? is a federally registered trademark that has been licensed by the national dairy boards since 1995. Awareness of got milk? stands at more than 90 percent nationally. It is considered one of the most important and successful campaigns in history, according to the California Milk Processor Board.
