Fresh & Easy Launches Gluten-Free Program

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- In response to customer feedback, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market is introducing more gluten-free products, adding new shelf labels to call out notable gluten-free items and is making a list readily available of all products in the store that are made without gluten ingredients, the company reported.

"We're excited to give our customers what they've been asking for by expanding our range of gluten-free products and making them easier to find in our stores," said Denise Webster, food scientist at Fresh & Easy. "Whether people are suffering from celiac disease or just want to cut gluten out of their diet, Fresh & Easy is a place where they can get great-tasting, affordable food made without gluten-containing ingredients."

Fresh & Easy is expanding its range of gluten-free products over the next few months by introducing popular brand items such as Soafella baking mixes and Glutino snacks. Fresh & Easy also carries many own-brand products that naturally do not contain gluten in addition to not having any artificial colors, flavors or added trans fats.

Fresh & Easy's Customer Service team reports gluten-free as the No. 1 dietary request from customers. It was this feedback that led the company to look closely at its gluten-free offerings. Fresh & Easy currently offers hundreds of products made without gluten-containing ingredients and plans to continue growing this range, it stated.

Many gluten-conscious people have shopped at Fresh & Easy and reported back to the company that they didn't know where to find the items they were looking for. In response, a complete list of all products made without gluten-ingredients can now be found at the stores' Kitchen Table and on the company's Web site. Specific gluten-free products will also be highlighted on the shelves with eye-catching maroon and green labels. Fresh & Easy plans to sample gluten-free products at the Kitchen Table for customers to enjoy in the near future.
