Wrigley Expanding Chattanooga Facility

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Wrigley Co. announced it is moving the production of LifeSavers mints to its Chattanooga facility through a significant expansion that will create more than 40 new jobs. LifeSavers mints were previously manufactured in Canada by an external company under contract with Wrigley, WTVC-TV reported.

The company expects to begin producing LifeSavers in Chattanooga by the end of 2011 within the existing facility space, which will be optimized as the new production line is added, according to Bruce VerBurg, facility director for Wrigley Chattanooga.

“With this expansion, Wrigley affirms the important role our Chattanooga facility will play in both the future of our North America production network and the continued growth of our confections business,” VerBurg said in a news release.

Chicago-based Wrigley acquired the Chattanooga confectionery operation in 2005, originally bringing the production of its Altoids mints there, according to the WTVC-TV report.
