Wilson Farms 'Step Up to the Plate' Campaign Benefits Meals on Wheels

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Wilson Farms and Meals on Wheels of Syracuse have kicked off the seventh annual "Step Up to the Plate" fundraising campaign to support the homebound elderly and disabled served by Meals on Wheels programs throughout New York.

Customers at Wilson Farms, Sugarcreek and Wilson Farms Xpress stores will have the opportunity to participate by donating $1 to receive a paper plate, which will be displayed in the store with the donors' name. "Step Up to the Plate" runs through November 27.

The campaign has raised more than $185,000 for Meals on Wheels programs since 2004. Each dollar raised in the participating store will be donated to the nearest Meals on Wheels organization to directly benefit homebound residents in that community.

"We encourage community members to visit their local store to take part. In doing so, they will help ensure that the homebound needing home-delivered meals are served," said Mason Kaufman, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Syracuse.

"Wilson Farms is proud to partner with Meals on Wheels," added Paul Nanula, CEO and president of Wilson Farms. "We know that through the generosity of our customers we can once again make this campaign a great success."

Wilson Farms Neighborhood Food Stores, established in 1969, operates 188 convenience stores and gas sites across New York state. Wilson Farms offers farm-fresh produce, convenient meal solutions, freshly made sandwiches, gourmet coffee and a wide selection of other beverages and an intensive line of grocery, frozen, and dairy products.
