Thorntons to Open Six New Stores by December

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Thorntons broke ground on six new sites and plans to open these new store locations by the end of December 2009, according to the company.

"We are excited about the expansion in several of our current markets and look forward to the opening of our new stores," said Matt Thornton, CEO of Thorntons. "Our goal is to provide our customers with a unique shopping experience. From our world class JaLava Coffee, to our high quality fresh food and value priced grocery items, we hope to delight our customers with an enjoyable one-stop shopping experience."

The company will open four new stores in Nashville, Tenn., expanding the market to 10 locations in two and one-half years, and also plans to open a new store in Chicago and another location in Champaign, Ill. With the addition of these new locations, Thorntons will operate 165 locations throughout Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio and Connecticut.

Customers can look forward to a clean, friendly environment with high quality foods, such as fresh sandwiches, salads, fruit and more, the company reported. Thorntons’ roller grill bar design features "hot off the grill" items such as hot dogs, corn dogs and more.

The stores will also offer a large variety of ice-cold fountain drinks, frozen ICEE flavors, smoothies and coffee, the company said. They will also have top-quality products at grocery store sizes, competitive prices and 100-percent guaranteed fuel.
