Swiss Farms Awards First Franchise

BROOMALL, Pa. -- Swiss Farms, a chain of drive-thru grocery and convenience stores, awarded its first franchise and multi-unit deal, to be located in New Jersey.

The first Swiss Farms franchisee, John Betz, has been a franchisee for other brands since 1990, including Auntie Anne's Pretzels, Starbucks Coffee, Kohr Bros. Frozen Custard and Johnson's Popcorn. Over the course of 20 years, Betz & Associates has grown to a total of 15 locations and nearly 300 team members.

"This is a truly historic event" Rocco Fiorentino, president of Swiss Farms Franchise Co., said in a statement. "It is the first time we have made Swiss Farms franchises available in our 42 years of business. We are equally excited about our partnership with John Betz and his partners who have significant franchisee retail brand operating experience and are very familiar with the history of Swiss Farms. It is important that we select partners who have the knowledge and philosophy to consistently deliver exceptional customer service. That is our brand promise that consumers have enjoyed since 1968."

Betz and his investors have committed to opening three Swiss Farms stores in New Jersey. Their first store will open in Somerdale, N.J., in September.

"As a franchisee, I look for a great brand providing a unique service and first class franchisor support. I know from working intimately with Swiss Farms that they are the same caliber as Auntie Anne's and Starbucks Coffee," Bentz said in a statement.

As a Delaware County, Pa. native, John Betz' relationship with Swiss Farms goes back to childhood, when he "always found Swiss Farms at my [car] doorstep with a free lollipop. That endearing personal quality of service remains as I am a Swiss Farms customer today."

He added: "Our locations have received countless awards for exceptional results in Guest Relations and Sales Achievement from the franchisors/licensor as well as the airport, casino and mall management. One of our primary guiding rules is that there is no limit to the degree of quality you can add to any product, whether it is a pretzel or a cup of coffee -- or a Swiss Farms grocery list."
