Sheetz Opens New Recruitment Center

BARBOURSVILLE, W.V. – It’s always difficult breaking into a new region, but Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz Inc. is hoping the presence of its new recruitment center in the local Huntington Mall will help the c-store chain gain recognition with both future employees and customers, according to a report on Herald-dispatch.com.

The center houses both a classroom and foodservice area where new employees will train to make Sheetz specialty coffees and foods. It also has computers to demonstrate the touch-screen ordering process that customers use when visiting the Sheetz restaurants inside the service stations, according to the report.

"We try to give the flavor of a Sheetz store," Earl Springer, manager of employee relations for Sheetz, said in the report "We’re in the process of hiring Marshall students to be greeters there. We’re going to try to educate customers on how to do touch-screen ordering, and they’ll answer questions about Sheetz as a place to shop or work…We had to be bold with something in that area that would give us a presence and allow us to hire and train people."

The employees trained at the center will be working at one of four new Sheetz stores under construction in the area, which will open throughout the summer and fall.

In addition to the new center, the chain of popular gas stations and food stops will also be boosting its regional recognition with a vehicle that will travel around offering drink samples, the report stated.

The vehicle will likely make stops at local baseball games, manufacturing plants, fairs and shopping plazas, with samples either being free or with the proceeds donated to charity, Herlad-dispatch.com reported.
