Sheetz Expands Pennsylvania Locations
ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz plans to open its newest store later this week in Kelly Township of Pennsylvania, reported the Sunbury Daily Item .
Though customers have been pumping gas, grabbing a quick bite to eat or picking up a gallon of milk there for more than a week, the official ribbon-cutting will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to the report.
The new store, a 5,800-square-foot facility, combines 16 fueling stations with a convenience store and restaurant. It employs approximately 50 people and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This new store and the one in Danville are the only two Sheetz stores in the area with inside seating so customers can eat in a restaurant setting. There are 48 seats at 12 tables on an outside patio and 44 seats at 11 tables inside.
"We're trying to cater to people on the go," district manager Jennifer Campbell told the Sunbury Daily Item . "Give them good food, not fast food."
In addition to an extensive menu that includes breakfast, salads, cold and toasted subs, hot and cold sandwiches, and a menu devoted exclusively to French fries, the new Sheetz offers a complete coffee bar featuring espresso, cappuccino, and mocha. The list of treats extends to frozen smoothies, gourmet milkshakes and a full range of bakery items as well, according to the report.
In other Sheetz news, the convenience store chain hopes to build one of its new restaurant-style gas stations in Buffalo Township, according to the Valley News Dispatch .
Sheetz is proposing to build a 5,800-square-foot store cater-corner to a GetGo gas station.
"These are our new-generation stores," said David Mastrostefano, an engineering permit manager with the company, told Valley News Dispatch .
The new stores will feature Sheetz's touchscreen computers that allow customers to order and pay for made-to-order food at the gas pumps. After placing an order for a sandwich, salad, pizza or "fryz," customers go inside to pick up their food.
The restaurant would include seating for about 30 people inside and 25 more outside. The gas station would have 14 gas pumps and a car wash. The store would employ about 45 people.
