Rutter’s Breaks Ground for New Store

YORK, Pa. -- Rutter’s Farm Stores has broken ground for a new 5,200-square-foot convenience store at Routes 30 and 997 in Greene Township, Pa. This will be Rutter’s fourth store in Franklin County, and 57th in Pennsylvania.

When customers pull up to the 24-hour location, they will find 16 gas-fueling positions as well as kerosene and diesel. Dedicated truck diesel fueling will be available behind the store, and next to the store will be a glass, two-bay automatic car wash, the c-store chain reported.

The store’s "green" attributes will include LED exterior lighting, energy-saving skylights, computerized energy and light management, and a white reflective roof. Customers will be able to do their part by tossing cans, bottles and old newspapers into Rutter’s recycling bins.

Hands-free entrance doors lead a long list of additional store amenities, including touch-free restrooms, seven high-definition televisions and a seating area for 14. Touch-screen ordering will provide easy access to Rutter’s vast fresh-food menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The store’s beverage menu will boast six flavors of frozen beverages, 16 flavors of fountain soft drinks, two self-serve milkshake machines and a premium-coffee island, according to the company.

A surcharge-free M&T Bank ATM and Blockbuster video rental kiosk will also be available.

The store will support 80 jobs during construction, and create 40 permanent jobs when it opens this spring.

Rutter’s Farm Stores operates 56 convenience stores in Pennsylvania’s York, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and Lancaster counties.
