Plaid Pantry, XYIENCE Launch UFC Fly Away Sweepstakes

LAS VEGAS -- Plaid Pantry, a 105-store convenience chain in Oregon and Washington, is partnering with XYIENCE, the maker of Xenergy, the official energy drink of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), to launch the UFC Fly Away Sweepstakes on Nov. 1.

The text message-based contest runs through Dec. 31. The winner will receive a weekend for two in Las Vegas that includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations and a pair of tickets to a future UFC event. XYIENCE and Plaid Pantry will also award an Xbox game console with a "UFC Undisputed" video game to the second-place winner, and a Pay-Per-View gift card along with a $100 gift card for party supplies to the third-place winner.

No purchase is necessary to enter, although winners must be legal residents of the United States and at least 18 years old with valid proof of age. Details on how to enter can be found in Plaid Pantry retail locations. Winners will be selected at random and announced in January.

Las Vegas-based XYIENCE also announced the winners of its summer sweepstakes with QuikTrip convenience stores in Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, as well as a national promotion with independent convenience stores throughout the United States. Both text message-based contests ran from June 1 through Aug. 31, the company reported.

The grand-prize winner of the independent retailer sweepstakes is Michael Sidelko of Oceanside, Calif., who will receive roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations for two in Las Vegas, along with tickets to UFC 141. Winners of the QT sweepstakes include grand-prize winner Jeff Upchurch of Gilbert, Ariz., who receives a pair of 400cc ATV four wheelers and a trailer. The second-place winner is Brandon McKee of Broken Arrow, Okla., who receives a Vespa scooter. Three additional winners — Everado Martinez, Marijane Green and Richard Anderson, all from Kansas — each receive a UFC getaway weekend for two in Las Vegas that includes hotel accommodations, airfare and a pair of tickets to UFC 141 on Dec. 30 at the MGM Grand.

XYIENCE continues to expand its Xenergy drink brand, and recently inked a deal with Skyland Distributing Co. in Asheville, N.C. The relationship opens a potential 500 new retail doors in western North Carolina for XYIENCE, and furthers the company's goal of landing key distribution outlets in the Southeast.

Skyland Distributing, which represents nearly one-third of North Carolina including regional convenience stores such as City Stop, Eblen Short Stop, Enmark, Mountain Energy and Triangle Stop, will carry all flavors of XYIENCE's Xenergy Premium and Xenergy Xtreme.
