PepsiCo Inc. has named Indra Nooyi as its chief executive officer, replacing Steve Reinemund.

Nooyi's appointment will be effective Oct. 1, when Reinemund will step down to spend more time with his family. "I have decided that my family is entitled to more time from me than the responsibilities and obligations of continuing as PepsiCo's CEO requires and deserves … It was, in many respects, the toughest and easiest decision of my life," said Reinemund.

Nooyi comes to the position from the role of CFO and president. She joined PepsiCo in 1994. Since then, she has helped spin off the company's restaurant and bottling business, and worked on the acquisition of Tropicana in 1998. In 2001, she was the lead negotiator for the $13.8 billion Quaker Oats acquisition. In 2005, she was one of two executives to receive a multi-million dollar restricted stock award that requires her to stay at the company until 2009.

In supplier news, Ruben Gonzales has joined Jackson Oil as vice president of sales and marketing. He comes to this position from Shell Oil, where he was the wholesale area manager and other similar positions at Unocal and Mt. Hood Oil Co.

Jackson Oil has also promoted George P. Wolter to the position of vice president of supply and distribution. Previously, he was a marketing representative for the company. Before working for Jackson, Wolter worked for Steve Eddy's ST Investments' wholesale division.

Jeff D. Jackson was also promoted by Jackson Oil, to the position of vice president of real estate. Previously, Jackson was the manager of real estate. Jackson joined the company in 2004 as an executive assistant. Prior to Jackson Oil, he worked for Marcus & Millichap, a real estate brokerage firm based in San Francisco.

Also promoted was Shelly A. Nolen to the position of marketing representative. Nolen has also worked in Jackson Oil's accounting department, wholesale department as a coordinator and marketing department as an assistant.

In other people news, the Lamar University Foundation has appointed Roy Steinhagen to the role of president from September 2006 to August 2008.

Steinhagen is currently the chairman and COO of Steinhagen Oil Co., Inc., a wholesaler of Shell and Chevron retail products. The company also owns and operates FastLane convenience stores and manages family investments.

He has been a member of the foundation's advisory board since 1999. Steinhagen is also a member of the Texas State Bank advisory board of directors, the Jefferson Theatre Preservation Society, on the advisory board of trustees of Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital and the foundation board of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

Also joining Steinhagen as officers for the organization are Marsha Hoffer, vice president of Smith Barney; Kevin Roy, treasurer of Interflow Factors Corp.; and Chuck Mason Jr., secretary for Mason Construction, Inc.

The Lamar University Foundation generates funding from private sources and manages its assets to provide funding to supplement state appropriations, as well as student financial assistance and faculty support, allowing Lamar University to attract the talented students and compete with other universities.

In supplier news, International Beverage Holdings, Ltd. has hired John Lennon as president of its U.S. regional headquarters called InterBev USA. The new venture is based in New York City and will develop the company's international portfolio of Asian spirits and beer in North America.

Lennon brings more than 20 years of experience in the beverage industry to this position. He comes to this role from Pyramid Breweries, Inc. where he was the president and CEO. Prior to that, he was the president and CEO of Beck's North America and vice president and general manager of Guinness Caribbean and Latin America. He also has had various roles in senior marketing with FEMSA Cervesa, All Brand Importers and Guinness in both the U.S. and Ireland.

"We are delighted to be announcing the opening of the North American market for our company and pleased to have someone with John Lennon's deep entrepreneurial experience in pioneering the development of several prominent international brands, to be at the helm of InterBev USA Inc.," said Barrie Jackson, InterBev's group president and CEO.
