Ford Gum to Make Big League Chew in 2011

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. -- The Ford Gum & Machine Co. reached an agreement with the Rob Nelson Co. to assume the license, manufacture and distribution of Big League Chew gum, effective Jan. 1, 2011. The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. will continue to support and sell the brand until Dec. 31, 2010.

"Big League Chew took the industry by storm when it was introduced by Amurol in 1980 and has become one of the most iconic brands in the kids' candy market," stated Steve Greene, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Ford Gum. "We are honored to be given the opportunity to preserve the legacy of this product, and excited that 'The Ballplayers Bubble Gum' will now be a major part of our of Made in America product lineup."

Big League Chew Bubble Gum will continue to be available in original, grape, watermelon and sour apple 2.1-ounce pouches, with 96-count floor displays and 48-count power wings also continuing to be offered. There are several line extensions in the planning stages as well.
