Coors Brewing Co. Helps Feed Phoenix Families

PHOENIX -- Coors Brewing Co. partnered with Friendly House, a charity based here, to provide holiday food baskets to area families in need. More than 1.8 million people in the state suffer from, or are at risk of hunger, according to the Center on Hunger and Poverty.

For every 18-pack of Coors Light bottles sold in the month of December, Coors will donate $1 to Friendly House, up to $10,000.

"It's difficult to imagine that in 2006 we still have many families in our community that are in need of emergency assistance," said Luis Ibarra, president and CEO of Friendly House. "During the holidays, the need for emergency services seems to increase. With the support of Coors and this special campaign, we will be able to provide our families with the food they need to make it through the holiday season. A special thanks to Coors and Food City for their ongoing support of the Latino community."

In addition, Coors volunteers will join those from the charity on Dec. 16 to distribute the food baskets that will feed four to six people. The company will also provide bags for food distribution.

"This program has a direct and positive impact on the Hispanic community in Phoenix and Coors is proud to be a part of it," said Pablo Guzman, vice president of U.S. Hispanic sales for Coors. "It's our way of saying happy holidays to the Hispanic community and giving back to our neighbors in Phoenix."
