Clark Taps Internet for Credit Card Processing

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Clark Brands has added a high-speed Internet option to its credit card processing platforms. Offered in conjunction with EchoSat Communications Group, Clark's Internet Communication Program allows retailers to use a secure connection either through a DSL or cable provider to communicate with Clark's credit card processing networks.

"We are pleased to be able to offer our [branded gasoline] licensees and their customers the option to use the Internet to transmit their payment transactions," said Karl Goodhouse, Clark's president.

The EchoSat solution utilizes a secure payment gateway (SPG) router developed with EchoSat code and coupled with a managed firewall system. Both the SPG and the firewall are requirements for integrated point-of-sale systems.

Clark's Internet Communication Program is available for most POS types supported on Clark's network, including Ruby Verifone and Gilbarco G-Site. It is also available for locations using the Verifone Omni 3750, which Clark specifies must have dual communication ports.

Clark licensees contract separately with EchoSat, who manages the secure private network for transmitting payment transaction data to Clark's credit card networks. EchoSat provides monthly network and firewall management, a 24-hour help desk service and troubleshooting. Retailers are responsible for the installation and monthly costs of DSL or cable Internet service.

Clark Brands owns the Clark family of brands. The company licenses the Clark gasoline brand and the Four Corners Coffee brand to independent petroleum marketers and retailers in 17 states.
