7-Eleven Goes Pink in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

DALLAS -- In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 7-Eleven Inc. is offering two ways to "drink pink" this October to raise much-needed funds for breast cancer research, the company reported.

The retailer created a refillable, 16-ounce, pink stainless steel mug on sale for $6.99, featuring a splash-resistant lid and understated pink-ribbon art. The first hot beverage is included with the mug, and refills are available for a suggested retail price of 99 cents. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each cup will be donated to support breast cancer research, according to 7-Eleven.

Additionally, Mike's Hard Lemonade Co. brewed up a pink version of its popular Mike's hard lemonade, called Mike's hard pink lemonade. The limited-edition flavor is available at participating 7-Eleven stores for a suggested retail price of $7.99. Mike's, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, is contributing $250,000 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, which will fund a researcher for one year. The donation was made in memory of a long-time Mike's employee who lost her battle with breast cancer last December.

Select 7-Eleven stores also will sell an assortment of pink ribbon products to help raise breast cancer awareness, including a bookmark, pins, a bear backpack clip, pen, necklace, keychain, ID badge, car magnet, sticky notes with pen, and a ceramic mug. The chain will donate 5 percent of the retail selling price for each product sold to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

In addition to the pink drink and non-foods assortment, participating 7-Eleven stores are carrying popular pink products from manufacturers that have made a commitment to contribute a portion of the proceeds to breast cancer charities for every item sold, including special edition Hershey Kisses and M&M candies with specific product and/or packaging to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness this month.
