7-Eleven Brings New Regional Slurpee to Michigan & Ohio

DALLAS — As part of an exclusive partnership, 7-Eleven Inc. and Faygo Beverages Inc. introduced the Rock & Rye Slurpee to the convenience store chain’s Michigan and Ohio locations, The Detroit News reported.

The Rock & Rye Slurpee, a spiced vanilla cream flavor, marks 7-Eleven and Faygo Beverages’ second regional Slurpee flavor partnership this year. In March, the c-store chain and Faygo started selling the Redpop Slurpee — made with the beverage company's iconic strawberry soda and flagship flavor — at more than 300 7-Eleven stores in Michigan and Ohio.

Detroit-based Faygo Beverages is a wholly owned subsidiary of National Beverage Corp., and distributes its Faygo and Faygo Pop-branded soft drinks in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Central Southern regions of the United States, as well as in southern Canada.

Metro Detroit-region customers consume more Slurpees than any other market in the nation, according to 7-Eleven officials.

Regional Slurpee flavors is something 7-Eleven started doing last year, as CSNews Online previously reported. In 2014, the chain introduced a Vernors Ginger Ale Slurpee in Michigan stores; a Squirt Slurpee in Los Angeles-area stores; a Big Red Slurpee in the greater San Antonio-area; and a Cheerwine Slurpee, made with the “legendary soft drink of the South,” at 131 locations in North and South Carolina.

Dallas-based 7-Eleven introduced the Slurpee in 1966 and now sells more than 13 million a month. The chain operates, franchises or licenses 10,500 convenience stores in North America.
