    Price Gouging Claims Cost 33 Atlanta Stations

    More than 100 stations are still being investigated for claims of excessive prices.

    ATLANTA -- The Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs settled with 33 area gas retailers based on an investigation of gas price gouging, WSB Radio reported.

    The state began its investigation into claims of gouging against 59 stations in the state, and 26 of those were cleared of the gouging claims, while the remaining 33 stuck deals with the state, according to the report.

    Inquiries into 141 other stations are still being investigated.

    The gas retailers that settled were required to pay a fine and in some cases, restitution. In cases of restitution, the retailer must post signage stating customers with applicable receipts were eligible for refunds.

    The locations that settled were:

    -- Pilot Travel Centers located in Port Wentworth, Dalton, Augusta, Cartersville, Newnan, Cordele, Braselton and Dublin, Ga. Restitution plus $20,000 fine, assessed jointly against the nine Pilot locations in those towns
    -- Chevron, Marietta, Ga. Restitution plus $2,000 fine
    -- CITGO, Lithonia, Ga. Restitution plus $2,000 fine
    -- Leon's Food Mart, Cumming, Ga. Restitution plus $1,400 fine
    -- Super Speedzone, Griffin, Ga. Restitution plus $2,500 fine
    -- Kroger stores located in Covington, Cumming and Suwanee, Ga. Restitution plus $4,000 fine, assessed jointly against the three Kroger locations listed here
    -- Lakeview Grocery, Griffin, Ga. Restitution plus $1,500 fine
    -- Super Express, Augusta, Ga. Restitution plus $5,000 fine
    -- Shell, Ellenwood, Ga. Restitution plus $1,000 fine
    -- Coastal Gas Station, Douglasville, Ga. Restitution plus $750 fine
    -- Oak Foods, Valdosta, Ga. Restitution plus $2,500 fine
    -- Zetella Express, Griffin, Ga. Restitution plus $2,500 fine
