Price Chopper, Sunoco Team Up for Gas Promotions

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Price Chopper and more than 70 Sunoco stations will offer Fuel AdvantEdge, a program that has been available for more than two years in other areas serviced by the grocery chain, and customers will reap the benefits.

For every $50 of qualified groceries purchase at Price Chopper, consumers can save 10 cents per gallon at participating Sunoco stations, and the dollars can be accumulated over a 90-day period, and spent on up to 20 gallons of gas, according to a report in The Albany Business Review.

Sunoco customers in other areas have saved upwards of 50 to 60 cents, and even $1 or more per gallon through the program, Jeff Hassman, channel marketing manager for the gas stations, said in the report.

And the number of participating stations is expected to grow, said Neil Golub, president and CEO of Price Chopper.

Customers must use their Price Chopper AdvantEdge card to qualify for the savings, and the supermarket automatically tracks the purchases that can be applied toward the fuel savings program, the report stated.

Certain restrictions apply, including alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, lottery tickets and video rentals.
