Plaid Pantry Deploys Mobile App to Enhance Customer Experience

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Plaid Pantry introduced its first customer smartphone application (app) in an effort to enhance its consumer experience, provide greater convenience and build consumer loyalty.

The new app, powered by Verge Connect, allows customers to select the promotions and coupons they want to receive and then sends them directly to their iPhone or Android device. In addition, Portland, Ore.-based Plaid Pantry, operator of 107 convenience stores in Oregon and Washington, is launching unprecedented loyalty features and offering games that allow consumers to unlock premium coupons.

"We selected Verge technology for our entry into mobile because it supports the convenience and positive experience we strive to provide customers every time they visit one of our stores," said Jonathan Polonsky, executive vice president for Plaid Pantry. "Our motto is 'Get in, Get it, Get Going' and this app makes it easier for customers to do just that, while also rewarding them for their loyalty and providing savings based on their purchasing preferences."

The app also allows Plaid Pantry to see how its customers are responding to promotions in real time. "We’re pleased to work with Plaid Pantry, a leader in delivering convenience, service and value to the c-store customer," said Carson Kuehne, Verge Connect's chief innovations officer. "This app is designed to produce immediate returns for both the company and its customers by making it easier than ever before to deliver on those core business practices."

Henderson, N.C.-based Verge Connect is a spinoff of M.R. Williams Inc. According to the company, its technology is unique because it is designed by c-store insiders with decades of retail experience.
