Pilot Flying J Recognizes Driver Appreciation Month

Drivers will earn double points in their My Rewards cards through Oct. 2.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Pilot Flying J network of travel centers and travel plazas is kicking off September by offering double points on professional drivers' My Rewards cards in recognition of Driver Appreciation Month. The double points reward will run through Oct. 2.

"For decades, professional drivers have stopped at Pilot Travel Centers and Flying J travel plazas to refuel, eat, shower and rest while they're on the road," said CEO Jimmy Haslam. "America relies on professional drivers; they are what keeps this country moving. Professional drivers are hardworking, talented and inspiring individuals.

"That's our renewed focus at Pilot Flying J -- that the driver comes first, and it's our job to appreciate, respect and thank them for what they do," he added. "That's why we're treating September as an opportunity to recognize our valued customers. All 21,000 employees in the Pilot Flying J family are looking forward to celebrating America's drivers."

Pilot Flying J will also celebrate National Driver Appreciation Week, Sept. 17-22, by offering additional staff to meet drivers when they visit stores and gather feedback for the company.

"We want to hear from drivers -- what we are doing well, what we could improve, what needs aren't being met," Haslam said. "We're striving to make each driver's day the best it can be, and we rely on driver feedback to provide the exceptional service our customers deserve."

The company has tapped into previous driver feedback to roll out several initiatives to improve services and facilities for drivers. For example, in July Pilot Flying J launched a $49 million project to remodel and upgrade its network of showers to make them cleaner, more modern, more relaxing and comfortable for drivers.

The shower renovations include porcelain tile; more hooks to hang personal items; iPod listening stations; softer, thicker, larger towels; better ventilation; and high-end, "spa-style" shower heads. Pilot Flying J plans to upgrade all of its 4,400-plus showers, completely rebuilding them over the next 18 months.

Based in Knoxville, Tenn., Pilot Flying J has more than 600 retail locations across North America. Its network provides customers with access to more than 60,000 parking spaces for trucks, more than 4,400 showers and more than 4,000 diesel lanes, of which more than 2,000 offer DEF at the pump.
