    Pierre Foods Recalls Two Sandwiches

    Chicken sandwiches may cause fatal food allergies.

    CINCINNATI – Voluntary recalls of Pierre Foods Inc.'s Fast Bites BBQ Chicken and Fast Bites Spicy Breaded Chicken sandwiches are due to a milk protein, micro gold, that is not listed on the product's packaging the Associated Press reported.

    The protein, which is present in the sandwich's bun, can cause a potential life-threatening allergic reaction to those who have a milk sensitivity or allergy, reported the Associated Press.

    The Food and Drug Administration has been alerted and recalls were announced last week. No illnesses have been reported to date, reported the Associated Press.

    The sandwiches are stocked in c-stores nationwide. The BBQ sandwich has a barcode of 7142110953 and the spicy sandwich has a barcode of 7142110954.

    Customers who have bought the sandwich will return them to stores for a full refund, or can call (800) 982-7091 for more information.
