Pepsi to Combine Beverage Units

PURCHASE, N.Y. -- In a move to further consolidate its business units after the acquisition of the Quaker Oats Co. last year, PepsiCo Inc. said it would combine its North American beverage operations and Quaker foods business into a single operating unit.

PepsiCo, the world's second-largest soft drink maker, will join its flagship Pepsi-Cola business with its Gatorade, Tropicana and Quaker food units in the United States and Canada. Gary Rodkin, the president and CEO of Pepsi-Cola North America since 1999, will lead the new division, named Pepsi-Cola Beverages and Foods North America.

Rodkin will report to Robert Morrison, PepsiCo vice chairman. Morrison has agreed to remain in his position until February 2003.
