The Kroger Co. promoted Robert Moeder to president of Kroger's Central Division, effective May 21. Moeder has held several leadership positions with Kroger, including his most recent role as vice president of convenience stores, supermarket petroleum and Turkey Hill Dairy.

"Bob brings more than 30 years of retail and division management experience to his new position," said Don McGeorge, president and chief operating officer of Kroger. "He has played an instrumental role in building our convenience store business and fuel business. We look forward to his significant contributions in the Central Division."

Moeder began his career with Dillon Companies Inc. in 1971 working part-time for its Calhoun's clothing division while attending college in Salina, Kan. He was eventually named president of Calhoun's in 1984 and has since held a number of positions with increasing responsibility.

Kroger's Central division, based in Indianapolis, includes Kroger, Hilander, Owen's and Pay Less stores in parts of Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio.

In other people news, Montana Gov. Schweitzer has named three members to the newly formed Oil Price Differentials Task Force.

The task force was formed after a meeting in Billings last month with Gov. Schweitzer, North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven and Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal.

Freudenthal is heading up the special task force to examine the causes of reduced prices paid to oil developers in the Rocky Mountain and northern plains states.

Montana's appointees to the task force are Public Service Commissioner Greg Jergeson; Billings convenience store owner Dick Skewis and Jon Brumley, president and CEO of Encore Acquisition Co., an energy development company.

In supplier news, Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. appointed Tom Upton vice president of managed services. Reporting to Ed Soladay, COO, Upton will provide leadership to the team that services equipment from Fujitsu and third-party vendors.

Upton, previously executive vice president of services and operations at Wincor Nixdorf, is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and setting standards for performance levels of Fujitsu's managed services including field services, logistics, procurement and desktop services.

"Tom has a strong track record of success in technology and leading managed services teams and we are pleased to have him join our team," said Soladay. "His extensive industry experience and proven leadership will be valuable assets in maintaining, and continuing to build upon, Fujitsu's strong reputation for quality service."
