JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Valero Energy Corp. added the former Federal Trade Commission chairman, Deborah Platt Majoras, to its board of directors.

Majoras currently serves as the chief legal officer of The Procter & Gamble Co. In addition to having chaired the FTC, Majoras previously served as a deputy assistant attorney general in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.

In other people news:

Hormel Foods Corporation
Douglas R. Reetz, vice president of Hormel Foods and senior vice president of consumer products sales (CPS), and Dennis B. Goettsch, vice president of marketing, foodservice will both retire from the company.

The following advancements will take place as a result of the retirements:

  • Patrick J. Schwab, director of fresh meats and margin optimization, will replace Reetz in the position of vice president of Hormel Foods and senior vice president of CPS.
  • Jeffrey R. Baker, director of marketing, foodservice, will replace Goettsch in the position of vice president of marketing, foodservice.

These advancements will be effective Oct. 29, 2012.

Quiznos
Quiznos appointed Stuart K. Mathis its new president and CEO, effective July 30. Additionally, Quiznos named Susan Lintonsmith its new chief marketing officer.

Mathis, who has served as a member of the International Franchise Association's board of directors since 2007, joins Quiznos with more than 30 years of experience in franchising, operations and administration. He most recently served as president of The UPS Store network.

Mathis succeeds Greg MacDonald, who is stepping down as Quiznos' president and CEO, effective immediately.

Lintonsmith brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing and sales to Quiznos. Previously, she served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Red Robin Gourmet Burgers.

Javo Beverage Co.
Chris Johnson was named executive vice president of sales at the Javo Beverage Co. Johnson joins Javo Beverage from IMI Cornelius, a global manufacturer of beverage dispensing and cooling equipment, where he served as vice president of sales for North America.

Diageo
Diageo appointed Greg Kryder as CFO for North America, effective Sept. 1. Kryder's appointment comes as Chris Davies, currently CFO for North America, plans to return to the UK for his next opportunity at Diageo.

Currently president of Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines (DC&E) in Napa, Kryder joined Diageo in 2002. In his new role, he will report to Larry Schwartz and will continue to serve on the North America Executive team.

With Kryder's move, Claudia Schubert is appointed to the role of president, Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, effective Sept. 1. She will also serve on the North America Executive team.
