Once Again, Leading the Way

3/7/2014

For more than 40 years, Convenience Store News and its award-winning editorial team have been keeping readers “ahead of what’s next” in the convenience and petroleum retailing industry.

Our publication is the most trusted and authoritative magazine in the industry, according to the Preston/Rogers Convenience Industry Media Usage Study, and every day through our website, CSNews.com, we deliver timely news and in-depth analysis on all areas that impact retailer success.

Now, we’ve taken the industry’s leading online news and information resource and made it even better. With a more responsive, cleaner and more attractive design, improved site organization and easier navigation, you’ll experience CSNews.com in a whole new way.

The new CSNews.com website employs a mobile-first design philosophy, creating a seamless and optimal engagement experience regardless of the viewing device, be it a desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone of any size. The new site, which launches this month, emphasizes original and insightful content organized by category. It provides readers with quick and convenient access to the information most important to them right on the home page.

The site now also draws additional data from parent company Stagnito Media’s massive industry database, the Directory of Convenience Stores (www.c-stores.com), as well as related product and manufacturer data embedded within every article page.

In addition, our new platform provides for expanded deployment of multimedia content, including slideshows, videos and audio podcasts. We’ve also eliminated those jarring, invasive pop-up ads you see on other sites and replaced them with more elegant, rich media placements in relevant positioning within the site.

The CSNews digital media team, under the direction of John Callanan, spent nearly seven months planning, developing, testing and rolling out this complete rebuild of CSNews.com.

“The new CSNews.com goes beyond a simple redesign; this is a top-to-bottom re-platforming of the website and an exciting first step in the development of Stagnito Media’s massive food retailing content and information database,” said Callanan, director of digital media. “Our team worked tirelessly on this project throughout 2013 and we are excited to see the results of this hard work begin to take shape.”

The launch of the new CSNews.com marks the first phase of a series of web relaunches planned within Stagnito Media in 2014, each being built around the nation’s largest centralized food retailing content database. Post-launch enhancements to the site will continue to add new functionality and customization options, further enhancing the user experience throughout the year.
