    Oil Companies Kick Off Summer Promotions

    ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil reward gas card, SpeedPass customers.

    HOUSTON/FAIRFAX, Va. -- ConocoPhillips is uniting all three of its U.S. marketing gasoline brands for a promotion designed to increase personal gas card applications and help drive sales at the pump. In alliance with Citibank and Hasbro, "The Game of Life $500,000 Giveaway" is scheduled to run Aug. 1 to Sept. 30 at more than 12,000 Phillips 66 and Conoco locations. Over 16,000 cash and gas prizes totaling $500,000 will be awarded.

    Consumers who are approved for a Phillips 66, Conoco or 76 personal gas card will receive a scratch-off game card for chance to win up to $10,000, $5,000 or $1,000 in cash, or $25 in gas. Additionally, they will receive a $20 statement of credit after their first use of the card. Customers who fill up eight gallons or more of gasoline can also receive a scratch-off game card for a chance to win the same prizes.

    "This marketing program is a great example of the continuation of our successful alliance with Citibank and their commitment to grow our credit card portfolio beyond pre-merger levels," said Alistair Donald, manager of Credit Card Enterprise. "The Game of Life $500,000 Giveaway" is ConocoPhillips' first promotion connected with its U.S. gasoline marketing campaign, "Life Happens between Empty and Full."

    In other summer promotional news, ExxonMobil is offering new and existing Speedpass customers an opportunity to get a Ryan Newman #12 Nextel Cup race car Speedpass RaceCase that fits over its standard Speedpass key tag device.

    To get a #12 Ryan Newman racecar Speedpass RaceCase, new or existing customers must:

    * Register for the offer at www.speedpass.com or call 1-87-SPEEDPASS.

    * Make a minimum of four qualifying purchases between July 1 and Sept. 30, 2004.

    * The qualifying purchases must include two fuel purchases -- a minimum of 10 gallons each, and two non-fuel purchases -- a minimum of $5 each (except in New Jersey, where the offer varies).

    * The promotion is limited to one Speedpass RaceCase per Speedpass account while supplies last.

    ExxonMobil is a major associate sponsor of the Penske Racing #12 Dodge racecar driven by Ryan Newman. In 2003, Newman earned a series-leading 11 pole positions and eight wins in Nextel Cup competition.
