WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — For the fourth consecutive year, Kum & Go LC is teaming up with Habitat for Humanity to sponsor and build homes.
Throughout April, Kum & Go has pledged its support for Habitat for Humanity's Home is the Key national campaign with a corporate donation and in-store fundraising. Through their donations, the convenience store retailer's customers will help select a community in which the company will sponsor the construction of a new Habitat for Humanity home.
Now through April 30, Kum & Go customers can contribute by:
- Adding $1 or more to in-store purchases to donate to Habitat for Humanity;
- Donating spare change to countertop donation box “houses”; and
- Purchasing Kum & Go water, with 10 cents per bottle going to to Habitat for Humanity.
Additionally, Kum & Go will distribute several grants to local Habitat for Humanity organizations. Grants will be based on which Kum & Go service areas raise the most money through customer traffic.
Since 2014, Kum & Go has donated more than $1.5 million to support Habitat for Humanity. The company has also pledged to give man hours to the organization. More than 200 Kum & Go associates have volunteered to build alongside future homeowners in locations where the company operates. Three Kum & Go-sponsored Habitat for Humanity homes have been built in Sioux Falls, S.D.; Minot, N.D.; and Story City, Iowa.
"Kum & Go and Habitat both share a commitment to building great communities," stated Kyle J. Krause, president and CEO of Kum & Go. "Along with the generous contributions of our loyal customers and through the support of our store associates, Kum & Go is proud to once again support Habitat and the need for affordable housing."
Kum & Go's support for Habitat for Humanity's Home is the Key initiative includes a corporate cash donation and a customer fundraising component. The company's support is currently Habitat for Humanity's only partnership with a convenience store retailer, according to Kum & Go.

"This partnership has grown and expanded every year, reaching more families who are working to build a better life for themselves and their families. We are very grateful for Kum & Go's support."
