WEST FARGO, N.D. — Nine Valley Dairy convenience stores in North Dakota and Minnesota have been acquired by PetroServe USA. The stores are expected to continue operating under the Valley Dairy name due to its longevity and reputation in the Grand Forks, N.D., region.
West Fargo-based PetroServe USA currently has 23 c-stores in the two states. These locations also have 16 Hot Stuff Pizza units and operate under the Cenex, Tesoro and PetroServe USA brands of fuel.
Valley Dairy's roots date back more than 50 years. In 1964, the Frank Schmidt family became involved with the business and stayed involved until 1988 when Schmidt's daughter, Monica Musich, joined the company. She became president and CEO in 2000.
"It's a little bittersweet, but I'm so excited about who's taking over," Musich said. "They're such great people and we have been friends for many years and I have always been impressed as to how they operate their stores."
Musich added that she will most miss her employees who have helped make the business a success and the community involvement of the stores. Valley Dairy has been involved with the Salvation Army, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the ALS association, the Amelia Grey Humanitarian Scholarship and other charitable causes.
Terry Monroe of American Business Brokers & Advisors, based in Effingham, Ill., and Bill Fecht of W.J.F. Services Inc., based in Normal, Ill., provided merger and acquisition advisory services to Valley Dairy and Monica Musich.
