LAS VEGAS — What’s the biggest thing in e-commerce right now that retailers and consumer packaged goods companies need to be on top of?
In an interview with Progressive Grocer, a sister publication of Convenience Store News, at this week’s Nielsen Consumer 360 conference, Mondelēz International Inc.’s Bonin Bough, chief media and e-commerce officer, answered this question, while also discussing how to better compete in an onmichannel world, ensuring that online and offline create seamless purchase behaviors.
“For our categories, it’s really, what’s the future of impulse? If you really think about it, 70 to 80 years ago, we created technology to drive impulse purchases, which was wire racks in the front of stores. So now, the question becomes: How do we replicate that behavior in an online world?” he said.
Nielsen Consumer 360 is an annual conference that seeks to connect consumer trends across industries. Held June 27-29 in Las Vegas, respected thought leaders and industry experts shared their experiences to help attendees better understand the rapidly changing landscapes of advertising, media and retail, as well as digital, technology, and more.
