HOUSTON – Shell Oil Co. added NCR Corp.'s Radiant Point of Sale (RPOS) petroleum and convenience solution as a new option for Shell-branded wholesalers. As of May 6, Shell retailers can use the RPOS solution to handle everyday transactions inside the store and at the fuel pump, as well as for complex foodservice operations.
RPOS simplifies remote management to deliver improved uptime and reduce the total cost of ownership, according to NCR.
"Consumers have a variety of choices today when it comes to fueling and convenience," stated Eric Stecker, vice president and general manager, petroleum and convenience, NCR Retail. "We can now offer Shell-branded wholesalers the RPOS solution, allowing them to add mobile, tablet, cloud and foodservice solutions that can dramatically reduce wait times, increase customer satisfaction and increase efficiency of operations. NCR looks forward to helping Shell create an improved customer experience –- one that separates their service from competitors."
Locations that use RPOS make use of a layer of redundancy that allows an entire site to remain operational even if there is an issue with a single point-of-sale device, according to the announcement. Additionally, software updates can be made remotely from central office locations and do not require the site to shut down when changes are made.
