    Walmart To Go Hybrid Boasts Innovative Design

    api(+) helps retailer impart fresh approach to small concept format

    Tampa, Fla.-based api(+) designed Walmart’s first hybrid convenience store and fuel station that recently opened in its hometown of Bentonville, Ark. Unlike traditional c-stores, Walmart To Go offers a mix of traditional grocery items and fresh prepared foods, along with popular traditional c-store products.

    Featuring six vibrant fuel canopies and expansive storefront glass to showcase merchandise and draw shoppers inside, Walmart’s first-ever concept store boasts bright green and white fueling canopies accented with the retailer's signature yellow spark from its existing flagship logo, to present a highly recognizable street presence and convey the store’s fresh offering.

    The new Walmart To Go also offers parity-priced products, on par with what shoppers would pay in the mega-retailer’s supercenters and Neighborhood Markets. Further, Walmart partnered with Bentonville-based Butcher & Deli to operate a full-service deli. In addition to ample soda and frozen drink fountains, milk shakes and a full coffee bar, the store also offers pizza, sandwiches and entrees, along with fresh fruit and a Greek yogurt smoothie station.

    The api(+)-designed hybrid store also offers beer and wine in a walk-in cooler, as well as frozen food.

    Meanwhile, Walmart is also testing an online grocery delivery service with a similar name, WalmartToGo.com.
