    Nielsen Launches New "Answers Edition" for Retailers

    Web based analysis tool debuted at annual Consumer 360 Conference

    PHOENIX -- The Nielsen Co., parent company to CSNews Online, released the first edition of the Nielsen Answers' Retail Edition, an innovative technology platform designed for retailers that is available in 75 countries, in 28 languages, with 85,000 users across hundreds of CPG companies.

    The anticipated new Web-based edition was presented during The Nielsen Co.'s annual Consumer 360 Conference, the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry's premier educational and networking event, which was attended by more than a 1,000 industry professionals.

    "Nielsen Answers Retail Edition provides a single solution to address the specific analytical needs of retailers and is the most significant tool for the industry on the market today," Russell Evans, vice president of global business intelligence, said in a released statement. "It provides a simple solution that combines all Nielsen assets, enables more users, and provides a consistent process, with incremental flexibility that will handle more of retailers' unique needs than ever before."

    Evans explained that the new Retail Edition brings the Nielsen Answers solution to retailers by leveraging Nielsen's proven analysis techniques and patent-pending technology to assist retail companies simplify the process of gaining insights to meet key business challenges. Evans explained that variables include:

    -- Determining the right assortment of merchandise to carry;
    -- Measuring store level, competitive and market performance;
    -- Post promotion assessment; and
    -- Competitive market pricing
