New Kum & Go Concept Coming to Clive, Iowa

CLIVE, Iowa -- Progress is being made to turn the site of an old Kum & Go convenience store and McDonald's into a new Kum & Go concept store, which is expected to be completed in December, the Des Moines Register reported.

The new store will be 5,000-square-feet, and will be the first in the nation to be built with a new concept for the convenience store company, according to the report. It will be built with sustainable materials with an eye toward meeting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design requirements, the newspaper reported.

Among other green features, the store will boast skylights; energy-efficient heating and cooling, and refrigeration and lighting systems; and will use recycled steel, and volatile organic compound-free paint and adhesives, the report stated.

In addition, store selections will see an increased product offering and fresh food choices such as made-to-order pizzas.
