Murphy USA Breaks Ground on First Post-Spinoff Station

EL DORADO, Ark. -- Murphy USA Inc. (MUSA), the retail spinoff of Murphy Oil Corp., recently broke ground here on its first flagship gas station and convenience store.

On Sept. 9, leaders from Murphy USA and Murphy Oil Corp. gathered for a ceremony at the work site located at 2720 Northwest Ave., according to a report by Arkansasmatters.com.

"Murphy USA completed the spinoff from Murphy Oil Corp. last [month], so this is an exciting opportunity to have one of our premier, new 1,400-square-foot sites here in El Dorado, the home of our corporate headquarters," said Andrew Clyde, president and CEO of MUSA. 

Since 1996, MUSA has owned and operated more than 1,100 gas stations nationwide. On Sept. 5, the company debuted on the S&P Mid-Cap 400.

When completed, the new El Dorado station will have eight gas pumps, two diesel pumps and a 1,400-square-foot retail kiosk. It is expected to open later this year.
