Mountain Energy Replaces Store in Asheville, N.C.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Mountain Energy Corp. replaced its former convenience store at 301 Smoky Park Highway with a new facility. Located near the intersections of I-40 and I-26 here, the new store offers Shell-branded gasoline and a DQ Grill and Chill, which opened its doors Jan. 18.

The Grill & Chill offers burgers, fries, hot dogs and the full line of DQ soft-serve treats.

"We are pleased to be associated with the category leader in ice cream, and excited about the opportunities provided by the food menu. We feel Dairy Queen is the partner that will help us drive sales and profitability, while having fun," Thom Morgan, president of Mountain Energy, said in a statement.

Kevin McNaboe, director of franchise development for Interstate Dairy Queen Corp., said the company looks forward to a long and successful partnership. Interstate is a territory operator of American Dairy Queen, and owns development rights along many interstate highways throughout the country. Along with developing freestanding units, Interstate actively develops within convenience stores and travel centers.

"We're excited to welcome Mountain Energy into the DQ family," McNaboe stated. "Thom and his team have been nothing but first-class."
