Maverik Opens New Store in Cedar Valley

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah -- Maverik ventured into new territory last month, when it opened a new convenience store and gas station here, at The Ranches entrance, the Daily Herald reported.

The design theme is the chain's most recent, featuring a kayaker who appears to be rushing a river above customers. Bright, adventure-themed murals grace the walls from floor to ceiling, and other models such as a climber, snowboarder and biker are suspended from above, the report stated.

"Maverik is adventure's first stop," manager Lance Fawcett told the paper. "When other stations are black and white, we've got the color."

The Eagle Mountain Maverik employs 20 people who operate the Maverik signature bakery and delicatessen, along with the front counter. Offerings for customers include hot breakfast sandwiches, breakfast pizzas, lunch burritos, nachos and Black Angus burgers, and at the forecourt, 10 pumps provide fuel, according to the report.

"It's a new format, larger, a lot better for RVs, trucks and motorhomes," Fawcett told the paper.

Meanwhile, the chain is gearing up for its new reality television series, dubbed "Maverik Kick Start." The series, which begins May 1 and ends Sept. 20, features a team that "kick starts" their lives by going on adventures such as river rafting, skydiving, rappelling, wilderness survival and race car driving, the report stated.

The team recently stopped by the newly opened Maverik here to fuel up before going on a dune buggy adventure at the Sand Dunes south of Eagle Mountain, according to the report.

"We take them to the edge and we take them out of their comfort zone," program host Ron Duncombe told the paper. "We get them out of their houses, off the couches and out into the Intermountain West."
