MAPCO Express Adds First E85 Pump

MADISON, Ala. -- MAPCO Express recently opened the chain's first E85 fuel pump at a gas station on Highway 72 West in Madison, Ala., according to a domesticfuel.com report. The company teamed up with Protec Fuel to convert the station's equipment and provide the fuel, which blends 85 percent ethanol with 15 percent gasoline and can be used by automobiles designed to handle flex-fuel.

"MAPCO has taken a big step in offering E85 to its customers at this Madison location," said Protec Fuel's Steve Walk. "This launch should lead to more MAPCO biofuel pumps throughout its southeastern U.S. territory."

"We congratulate and commend MAPCO and the people of Madison for making E85 available to the public," said Mark Bentley, Executive Director of the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition. The MAPCO pump is the sixteenth E85 pump in Alabama, according to Bentley.
