Mansfield Recognized as Innovation Leader in Technology and Industry

ATLANTA -- For the second year in a row, Mansfield Oil was named a finalist for the Platts Global Energy Awards, which recognize significant contributions to the energy industry, the company reported.

Judges selected Mansfield for its performance in two categories -- Downstream Operations of the Year and Deal of the Year -- from a record number of nominations.

In choosing Mansfield as a finalist for Deal of the Year, judges evaluated its acquisition of C&N, a leading ethanol marketer representing 500 million gallons of ethanol production and 150 million gallons of biodiesel production capacity. The acquisition expands rail supply to 150 new markets for Mansfield and integrates plant direct biofuels supply into Mansfield's national distribution and marketing system, according to the company.

For Downstream Operations of the Year, judges considered that Mansfield has proven operational excellence by moving more than 2 billion gallons of motor fuel across 49 states, increasing renewable fuel sales by 450 percent, and services including its nationally scaled generator fuel supply program: GenPRO, the company stated in a release.

Winners of the 2009 Platts Awards will be announced Dec. 3, 2009, in New York.

Additionally, Mansfield ranked No. 188 on "InformationWeek 500" business technology rankings, a unique and valuable corporate ranking measuring IT innovation across industries. Rather than reflecting IT spending, rankings reflect best IT practices which successfully implement strategies and initiatives at the core of business innovation, the company reported.

Mansfield's IT integration of a distributed computing system, decentralized server framework, decentralized employee workspace, and use of VoIP solutions create a high-performing business network for non-stop fuel supply -- operational seven days a week, 365 days a year, even during emergencies -- to diverse clients across 900 supply points and four regional offices.
