OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores has seemingly fallen in love with the idea of offering bulk Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) at its pumps. According to DiscoverDEF.com, Love's will nearly double the number of its truck stops offering DEF by the end of this year.
Currently, about 70 Love's Travel Stops offer DEF. The chain plans to increase that number to 125 by year-end.
DEF is a urea-based chemical reactant designed for use in selective catalytic reduction systems to reduce NOx highly-reactive gas emissions. "As more and more 2010 engines have come into the market, the demand is starting to increase and that's driving our decisions," Jenny Love Meyer, Love's director of communications, said in the website report. She added that any future newly-built Love's truck stop will have the ability to offer DEF at every filling lane.
The DEF dispensing units will mostly be supplied by Gilbraco, DiscoverDEF.com reported. Yara and Old World Industries will provide the DEF.
