Louisiana Gets Its First RaceTrac RT6K Store

LAFAYETTE, La. -- RaceTrac Petroleum held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday at the grand opening of its first RT6K store in Louisiana, located at 5100 Ambassador Caffrey Pkwy. in Lafayette, according to a KATC.com report.

The event, which RaceTrac promoted on its Facebook page, started at 10 a.m. and featured entertainment by R&B singer Cupid, gas card giveaways, games and prizes, special deals and more. Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Vice President Bruce Conque and Comeaux High School Principal Joe Craig spoke on behalf of the community.

The 6,000-square-foot RT6K store model has indoor and outdoor seating, free Wi-Fi, a walk-in beer cooler and other amenities. It also features an increased emphasis on foodservice, with expanded food and beverage options, fried chicken and biscuits, 24 frozen drink flavors and a Swirl World frozen yogurt bar with 10 flavors and more than 40 toppings.

Earlier this year, RaceTrac was named the Convenience Store News inaugural Convenience Store Retailer Innovator of the Year on the strength of the RT6K prototype.

Atlanta-based RaceTrac operates more than 330 convenience stores and gas stations.
