Lottery Crosses State Lines

CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- A multi-state lottery could be in the offing, a convenience store association says.

The New York Association of Convenience Stores (NYACS) reports in its March newsletter to member retailers and suppliers that the New York Lottery is working with seven states -- Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia - to develop a multi-state, mega-jackpot game.

The organization reported that the New York state Legislature approved gambling legislation last fall that paved the way for a multi-state alliance. The new game, which has yet to be named, could be available as soon as this spring.
