Kwik Trip Offers More Than Name in Racing Sponsorship

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- For the third year in a row, teams participating in the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour (ASAMT) will get to experience the hospitality the convenience retailer provides at each event as Kwik Trip returns as the title sponsor for the Midwest Super Late Model series, WhoWon.com reported.

Kwik Trip employees offering the chain’s fresh Café Karuba coffee and Glazer doughnuts are a common presence at each race, as the haulers arrive at the pits and teams sign in. The ASAMT is now preparing for its 2009 season opener Saturday, April 25, at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., the racing Web site reported.

"We at Kwik Trip, really try to have a great relationship with all members of the ASAMT community by showing our support and gratitude for what they do, and they in return support Kwik Trip," Jenny Frandsen, personal Kwik Card account representative stated. "At Kwik Trip, we have a family-like culture and the officials, drivers and their crews have become an extension of that family. Kwik Trip also shows its continued support by interacting with the drivers at every race. We are there to shake their hands at the beginning of each race and wish them luck. We also take part in the Winner Circle and congratulate all drivers on their race."

With many of the ASAMT races close by to one of Kwik Trip’s 350 retail locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa, the relationship is a win-win as the ASAMT teams use Kwik Trip to fuel and stock up on its private label Cheese Mountain pizzas and Kwik-n-Low items like bread, milk, bananas, potatoes and onions.

If teams forget something, they don't need to worry when they get to the track. "We also bring various products to events for the drivers and their crews -- hot Karuba Coffee on the cold mornings, thirst-quenching Nature's Touch Water and Kwikade on those hot days, cookies and other snacks to keep them going on all of those long days," Frandsen told WhoWon.com. "We also will have a few items they will have to wait to see. We will have our Kwik Trip racing hats and calendars again this year. There is a new twist with this year's calendar that I think everyone will really enjoy."

That twist will tie into helping Kwik Trip's association with Special Olympics. "We will be selling raffle tickets at various races to help raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics," Frandsen said. "We will also be selling the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour Racing Calendars this year for $1 with the money going to Special Olympics."

The relationship Kwik Trip has established with the teams goes beyond the assistance the chain provides on race day. Its Kwik Card Plus program is yet another way the retailer helps the teams save money. As Frandsen explained, "Kwik Card Plus is great way for people to save money while they shop our locations." The card can be used at any of its Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, Hearty Platter Restaurant and Tobacco Outlet locations.

New Kwik Card account holders save 5 percent on gasoline for either a 60- or 120-day introductory period and 10 percent on eligible in-store purchases. After the introductory period expires, they continue to save 10 percent on in-store purchases and three cents on every gallon of gasoline and diesel they purchase using their Kwik Card account.

Existing account holders earn three cents on all gasoline and diesel fuel, plus 10 percent on eligible in-store purchases. Account holders can either choose to keep the Kwik Rewards for themselves or donate them to their favorite organization. If the account holder designates their Kwik Rewards to go to an organization, the organization will receive everything the account holder would have received plus Kwik Trip will donate an additional 5 percent on top of the eligible in-store purchases. The Kwik Card Plus card can be set up to be a credit card or ACH card, which works just like a debit card.

"We are very excited to have Kwik Trip Inc. return as our title sponsor for the third consecutive year," ASAMT Vice President Steve Einhaus stated. "They go out of their way to make sure every competitor has a positive experience. The teams really appreciate everything they do. It’s a great relationship that everyone hopes will last for a long time."
