SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Convenience store chain Kum & Go teamed up with Springfield Victory Mission and 92.9 FM to raise funds for holiday gift baskets.
Customers can purchase a cardboard turkey for $1 from now until Nov. 24 at area Kum & Go c-stores for the Feed the Hungry campaign, News-Leader.com reported.
The fundraiser, now in its sixth year, has raised nearly $60,000 for the Victory Mission's holiday meals.
Kum & Go has more than 435 stores in 11 states. On its Web site it states that Kum & Go gives back 10 percent of its annual profits to charitable and educational causes each year. This distinction earned the organization the "Outstanding Corporate Philanthropy Award" for 2006 from the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
